Lightning strike is a bit of a misnomer because what is really thought to have happened was that millions of years ago, the mountain or ground encasing the crystal was struck in an electrical storm (not the actual quartz being struck), and the force/current/heat caused growth interruption and breakage. The quartz then healed herself, which is where all that amazing texture and patterning comes from.
This gorgeous, LARGE, smoky quartz point comes from the Serra do Espinhaço Mountain Range in Minas Gerais, Brazil; an area known for severe, high-altitude thunderstorms.
The deep smoky colour is natural and intense.
While this is not a metaphysical store; there is something profoundly beautiful emanating from the incredible journey of damage this crystal took over thousands, if not millions, of years; and healed herself each time.
There is even a baby crystal that grew from the healed contact area on the bottom and the damage to the shovelhead termination had begun to heal (see photos)!
